13.SIGNS AND WONDERS
ACCOMPANY THE HOLY SPIRIT FILLED PERSON
If one is truly filled with the Holy Spirit, there are true signs and wonders following them. The Holy Spirit does not do fake miracles, does not have non blind people wear sunglasses and pretend to be blind till prayed for... and then claim healing, when they were never blind to begin with... To deny those fakes as scams and sinful blasphemies... is not cessationism.
Truly Holy Spirit filled persons have miracles, and every one of them, are true, and truly done by an omnipotent God.
So, we know that cessationists who do not believe any of the Spirit gifts are real, are wrong. We know the gifts continue, for we are experiencing them.
According to cessationists, all miracles are fake or demonic, for they believe that all the gifts of the Holy Spirit have ended at the end of the first century of the church. That is an extreme view that makes it possible to declare all gifts, miracles, and healings to be impossible to be from God.
The truly Holy Spirit filled believer has 'signs and wonders' follow them. If one has to do fakery to have a 'miracle', or has to speak gibberish to pretend tongues, it is demonic spirit which influence them, not the Holy Spirit.
Those who believe in the gifts of healing, the gift of miracles, to be still under the direction of the Holy Spirit, able to have such wonders follow the preaching of the Word of God.
Some fake miracles are mocked by some for their obvious illegitimacy. They are imitations but not really done by the Holy Spirit. Fakery is not being filled with the Holy Spirit.
If we are Holy Spirit filled, He will be so close to us,
we will feel and hear His feelings.
The Holy Spirit HEARS and SPEAKS.
"WHATEVER HE HEARS, HE WILL SPEAK."
"LET HIM HEAR WHAT THE SPIRIT SAYS."
Our problem is not that the Spirit is not speaking to us, it is that we are not listening to the right station. The Holy Spirit passes on to us all what He hears the Father and Jesus say to us, or about us.
He has FEELINGS. So, when one is Holy Spirit filled, they sense those feelings of the Holy Spirit.
"AND DO NOT GRIEVE THE HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD."
The Holy Spirit can be hurt deeply. "Grief" is deeper than "hurt." "Grieve" is the Greek word "loopa." It means "to feel pain in body and mind." The Spirit grieves in an emotional way. The Spirit filled person will feel this grief and sensing it can be disturbing for the grief is so intense... When one walks into a room where someone is grieving the Holy Spirit with anger, with foul language, with blasphemy, etc... the Holy Spirit filled person will feel the deep grief of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit bestows LOVE. The love we need for the unlovely, and for the lost, and even for our friends is found as we receive this love from the Source of love, the Holy Spirit.
"...THE LOVE OF GOD HAS BEEN POURED OUT IN OUR HEARTS, BY THE HOLY SPIRIT WHO WAS GIVEN TO US."
The Spirit would rather bestow, bless, give and speak--than be grieved, vexed, and depart from you. He bestows 'love' and this love is sometimes, unexpectantly, suddenly felt. His love overwhelms the Holy Spirit filled person in a sudden, often unexpected, time. For sometimes the 'unlovely', the so far unrepentant, the still sick, the still deceived are suddenly loved with an unexplainable love. The Holy Spirit filled person feels that love. Then the Holy Spirit uses the Holy Spirit filled person with a gift of the Spirit for that person.
The Holy Spirit filled person feels conviction. That conviction is gentle, loving, but still overwhelming. The guilt is short lived, for the nearness of the Holy Spirit makes repentance to be short, but wonderful. We, as Holy Spirit filled persons are not murdering, or creating mayhem, but the little sins still are convicted in us. If we are not convicted, we will not repent. If we do not repent, we cannot be forgiven. So, the Holy Spirit filled person appreciates the fact that the Spirit is constantly with us and He will make us feel convicted for sin. As we get more and more sensitive to His conviction, we therefore purify ourselves more and more.
"HE WILL REPROVE THE WORLD OF SIN."
Another feeling that Holy Spirit filled persons often find overwhelming is the desire to GLORIFY JESUS. This is coming from the Holy Spirit, and we sense it. The Spirit does not glorify Himself. As we get into closer harmony and fellowship with this Spirit, we also will cease to glorify ourselves. We will glorify Jesus more and more. Those who seek to glorify self, have strayed from the Spirit, for that is not inspired of the Spirit.
John 16:14 "HE SHALL GLORIFY ME."
The non Holy Spirit filled person wants to glorify themselves, wants to ignore or deny conviction, wants to love self, not others, and wants to tolerate, not grieve over sin. Those things thereby show that the person is influenced by demonic spirits, not by the Holy Spirit.
