WHAT IS THE "LAYING ON OF HANDS"?
This is a "gift of God..."
"And when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles' hands, the Holy Spirit was given, he offered money. But Peter said... Thy money perish with thee, because thou has thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter; for thy heart is not right in the sight of God. Repent, therefore, of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee. For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity."
The 'laying on of hands' as seen in our day is different than it was in the early church.. Now it is seen as only a form, a ritual, and a ceremony... But in the early church, soon in this age it will be a gift of the Spirit, an important doctrine, and a powerful, miraculous impartation of gifts and prophetic revelation from the Lord to His empowered saints...
The early church laid hands upon many.
"Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit..."
I Timothy 4:14
"Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of hands..."
II Timothy 1:6
"...stir up the gift of God, which is in thee, by the putting on of my hands... for God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, of love, and of a sound mind."
"And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul."
"Whom they had set before the apostles, when they had prayed, they laid their hands upon them."
"And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them."
I Timothy 5:22
"Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be a partaker of other men's sins, keep thyself pure."
SIX BASIC PRINCIPLES TAUGHT BY JESUS
"Therefore, leaving the PRINCIPLES OF THE DOCTRINE OF CHRIST, let us go on unto perfection, not laying again (Greek, kataballo meaning 'casting down') the FOUNDATION:
of repentance from dead works;
of faith toward God;
of the doctrine of baptisms;
of the LAYING ON OF HANDS;
of the resurrection of the dead;
and of eternal judgment."
This shows that one of the six doctrines emphasized by the Lord to the disciples was the 'LAYING ON OF HANDS'. We have allowed to degenerate into simply a form... God wants to restore such gift to the church, and to have its use bring the gifts and ministries to the latter rain saints...
The Lord will have saints who will lay hands on others to impart blessings, gifts, and ministries
