GRACE ALONE BRINGS US INTO FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD
Ephesians 2:13 (KJV)
13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
The only way to salvation is via the blood of Jesus. By the act of repenting when the Holy Spirit convicts us, we find salvation, and acceptance into the kingdom with Jesus our King. Grace requires no works for salvation to be activated.
Ephesians 2:17-20 (KJV)
17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.
18 For through Him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
Together, all of the saints, following Jesus, are being built into the ‘habitation of God’ by the Holy Spirit. This is a process, a process of being ‘righteous’, i.e. in right standing with God. His home is in us, in His church. It is totally grace, for no work could ever merit this.
Ephesians 2:22 (KJV)
22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
We never could have perfected ourselves, to receive such blessing. None of us can claim a ‘self’ righteousness. Only the blood of the One Who was perfectly righteous, can cleanse away our imperfections. The grace of God, the boundless, unfathomable mercy of God, is all that can take our sinful person and make it perfectly righteous in God’s eyes.
1 John 1:7-9 (KJV)
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Walking in the light, as Jesus, Who now walks with us, can bring constant cleansings. Our walk, even after we become a Christian, is far from perfect. If you do not realize that, you are blind to your own sins, a liar about your sins, or have not been paying much attention to the devil, for he will be reminding us of every failure, sin, and stumbling.
If we keep repenting of our sins, keep the blood flowing on our lives, we keep a relationship so that we can be ‘nigh’ to the throne of God, we can spend eternity with our Lord. Grace is the only thing that can make this all happen. There is no obedience that can redeem... no work could be sufficient... it is all grace.
THE WASHING OF THE BLOOD
Psalm 32:1-2 (KJV)
1 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
2 Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.
We are ‘blessed’ to have our transgressions forgiven, and to have the Lord not ‘impute’ our iniquity against us, and to have our own spirit now to have
‘No guile’ in it. This is all due to the grace of God. We have become new creations in Jesus. No longer the foul, vile, evil person we once were, but now, we are made to be the ‘righteousness of God’ by His unmerited, unearned, undeserved favor... His grace.
2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV)
21 For He hath made Him to be sin for us, Who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.
Do we fully realize what that means? The grace of God, merited by only Jesus, has ‘imputed’ us with His righteousness. Cleansed, washed in the blood, there is no remaining guilt, sin, shame of our former selves. We are new creations in Christ, we are the righteousness of God.
