WHAT DOES GOD DO

WHEN WE ARE TERRORIZED?

Part 3

GOD REMINDS US OF PROPHETIC HOPE

When terrorism rises, when the devil gets thugs and monsters to attack multitudes in this world, the Lord reveals to the Christians, where they are in the prophetic fulfilment of the Bible. We are in the last days of the last days, and the Lord Jesus is soon to come. We need not fear, for the horrible events of the day can assure us of where we are in His plan.

I Thessalonians 5:1-11

1. But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.

2. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh

as a thief in the night.

3. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

4. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

5. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day; we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

6. Therefore, let us not sleep, as do others, but let us watch and be sober.

7. For they that sleep, sleep in the night; and they that be drunken, are drunken in the night.

8. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.

9. For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ.

10. Who died for us, that , whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

11. Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

The rapture of the church will evacuate the saints before some terrible events occur. It is not wise to wish to delay the rapture till mid-trib, or post trib. You would not want to be here during the days after the time He has planned the rapture. Many wonder how the world will explain the rapture. And the devil has much planned by new agers, wiccans, and others to explain a sudden disappearance of many. But even these explanations will be short-lived, for events so terrible, so devastating to this world will occur in the days following the rapture. That the explanation of what happened to the Christians will be of little concern to them while they see many millions dying, starvation a likely thing for many more, and more death on the way.

Unexpected events are to occur, and there was no need to write of all the events to so occur, for the people at Thessalonica had been taught many things already by Paul. These events, taught by Paul, and taught in the Word of God, are meant to identify the times and the seasons. We can know the general time of the Lord’s return.

The ‘day of the Lord" spoken of here, is the period of time from the rapture of the church, to when God will have finished dealing with wicked mankind. It includes the rapture, the tribulation, the millennium, and the white throne judgment. The tribulation is just the transition period into that time.

The ‘day’ is coming ‘as a thief in the night’ to most of the world. It should not surprise us when scoffers mock our beliefs, our understanding of prophecy. The world has always mocked the idea of Jesus coming.

"As a thief in the night" indicates that it will be sudden, unexpected, while the minds of people are asleep cognitively. Then comes ‘sudden destruction’. That means utter and hopeless ruin.

Notice that Paul began, ‘ye have no need that I write unto you. For ye yourselves know" Paul had gone into detail on events that foreshadow this ‘day’, and these people had no need of him re-iterating these facts.

What of the people today? Some have no clue to the signs of the last days. We can announce ‘it is soon" and they stand there with mouths open, and wonder how we could know that. And yet, we live in the times when the signs that Paul spoke of, that John spoke of, that Peter and Jude spoke of, are being literally fulfilled before our eyes. We can watch the news and rejoice in fulfillment of Bible prophecy, and others can watch the same news and only know if the stock market went up or down. Today, when we watch the news, the news of terrorism, of threats, of fear, and of shock, fill that news. Yet, we, as Christians, need not fear, but can put the events in the prophetic timetable of the Bible, and know that we are near the rapture of the church.

We are to be spiritually enlightened.

We are ‘children of the light’. We should be aware of the future. Christ and the Bible wants us enlightened, for one third of the Bible is prophecy. "Let us not sleep", we are encouraged thus to stay awake, aware, and knowing during the darkness, when a thief could come in unawares. Some Christians are willingly ignorant, sleeping mentally. Books, teachers, the Bible, all explain prophecy, and Christians have no excuse for ignorance.

We are told to ‘be sober’. The world and its demands can make us insensitive and not alert to prophetic events and their importance. We must sober up to the importance of prophecy.

We need to put on the ‘breastplate’. If we begin to get into prophecy, we will find ourselves in a battle with satan and the demonic helpers of that one. A breastplate is provided for us by the Lord to protect us from frontal and rear attacks from the enemy and his helpers. Some Christians want a life of ease, no spiritual battles.

A COMING JUDGMENT, WE NEED TO BE AWARE,

BUT WE HAVE NO PART IN IT.

The terrorism we see is the devil’s wrath, his anger, his fears being exhibited by his converts. God’s wrath will soon be poured out on this world, and His wrath will consume and judge those who have not availed themselves of the salvation in Jesus.

We are ‘not appointed’ to God’s wrath. We suffer, heartache, persecutions of the world, attacks of the devil, but not the wrath of God. God has chosen for us to escape His judgment. The word ‘wrath’ speaks of God’s anger, terror of His judgment on sin, of which we have been washed clean. We stand as perfect in God’s eyes, washed in the blood of Jesus. We should ‘comfort’ and ‘edify’ each other with these facts.

Some ‘Christians’ spend much time trying to convince us that when God starts pouring out His wrath, we are still going to be here, suffering it. They seem to enjoy putting ‘un-comfort’ and ‘un-edification’ (excuse the coining of words) into the saints. The Bible is very plain, that we do suffer, but it is even more plain that it is not God’s wrath that we are to suffer.

Why does God allow sin to continue, without a display of His judgment now? He is saving it up for the ‘day of the Lord."

Isaiah 13:9-11, Zephaniah 1:14-16, and Revelation chapters 6 to 19 describe that period. This period will not only be judgment on the world for the sins, and for deliverance for Israel. The millennium is the last 1000 years of this age. During this age, Christ rules on the earth. The period will start suddenly after the rapture.

Suddenly, destruction will announce the beginning of this age. The tribulation and this judgment time is likened unto ‘travail’ (verse 3) of a woman about to give birth. Labor pains of a woman, end with the birth of the child. And this time, though painful, very painful at times, will end with a birth, and Christ will arrive.

COUNTERFEIT ARMAGEDDON BEGINS THE TRIBULATION

Much attention over the centuries has been paid to the war that ends the tribulation. We call that war, ‘Armageddon’, because it is fought in the valley of Megiddo. There is a war that starts the tribulation, and one fourth of the world die in that war. This war will be a counterfeit of the real Armageddon. The real Armageddon ends with Jesus coming and ruling. So the devil will try to counterfeit the war with this one at the beginning of the tribulation, so people will accept the antichrist, who comes at its end, as the messiah.

The devil tries to counterfeit everything that God does, to deceive the world. The devil counterfeits the Bible prophecy with fortune tellers, astrologists, ouija boards, crystal balls, etc. The devil counterfeits Christ with the Antichrist. He counterfeits true faith with many false religions. The battle of armageddon takes place at the end of the tribulation, with Jesus as winner, and so the devil sets up a war, with the designed purpose of bringing his man, the antichrist as ruler at the end.

Counterfeit Armageddon occurs at the beginning of the tribulation.

Revelation 6 tells us much of this time. It tells of four horsemen, which are the first four seals.

Revelation 6:1-2 ...white horseman ... Antichrist
Revelation 6:3-4 ... red horseman ... war
Revelation 6:5-6 ...black horseman ... famine
Revelation 6:7-8 ...pale horseman ... death

Satan will want the world to view this war as Armageddon, to be followed by the appearance of the Messiah. The Jews will for a time accept the antichrist as the messiah. Apostate Christians left behind will accept him also as the messiah. The stage is being set today, with the politically correct idea of prophetic truth being made harmonious with that idea of counterfeit armageddon being the real armageddon... Some are even teaching in orthodoxy, that we are amidst the tribulation now... So to accept the next war as armageddon, esp, when the final battle will be fought there in that same valley, is very likely.

This war, counterfeit Armageddon, is to be proceeded by a military buildup by both sides.

Joel 3:9-10

"Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; prepare war, make up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up;

Beat your plowshares into swords and your pruning hooks into spears;

let the weak say, I am strong."

This condition, of military buildup, is to mark ‘the day of the Lord." Notice the Russian ambitions in Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey, Ethiopia, etc. When many nations come to attack Israel, the world will say ‘are you come to take another spoil."

Why would Russia want the nation of Israel?

The Dead Sea has to be a big part of that. The Dead Sea has enough potash to provide the world’s needs for 2000 years. Potash is used for fertilizer and ammunition. The value of potash in the Dead Sea is one trillion and 270 billion dollars.

To take Israel would put Arab world on the side of Russia, and make it much easier for Russia to get the oil it needs.

The war, as described in Ezekiel 38-39, shows that God allows a desire in Russia’s mind to covet Israel (38:10-11). Russia comes to ‘cover the land as a cloud". The nation of Russia has dirigibles each capable of carrying 5000 troops, designed for mass invasions as described here. Such dirigibles would ‘cover the land as a cloud."  Russia will be defeated (Ezekiel 39:1-8)

The counterfeit armageddon seems to be one of atomic destruction.

It tells of an ‘overflowing rain, great hailstones, fire and brimstone." All of these are the results of atomic warfare.

Five out of every six of the Russian army are slain. From the dirigibles, they fall upon the mountains of Israel.

It will be seven months (Ezekiel 39:14) before they can begin to bury the dead. Again suggesting atomic warfare, with radioactivity abundant in the days following the attack.

God has had a purpose for the U.S.A. At the rapture, that role ceases for the saints are gone. God does not need a hinderer during the tribulation, except for Himself. Evangelism role taken over by the 144,000 Jews and the two witnesses. America without the saints, will be like Sodom without Lot. A great judgment is due the sinners of this nation.

This war that begins the tribulation, will end on the mountains of Israel, but begins between Russia and the United States. One fourth of the world’s population is to be destroyed during this war. Ezekiel 38 and 39 happen after the main part of the war, for it is at this last battle time that Russia is saying’ ‘to take a spoil’ they come against Israel.. A spoil is the reward of winning a war.

They have defeated the United States, and come to take Israel as the ‘spoil’.

Jeremiah 25:31-33 show a war on evil nations wherein; "A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth, for the Lord hath a controversy with the nations, He will plead with all flesh; He will give them that are wicked to the sword, saith the Lord. Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation."

There are nearly 6 billion people on the earth now. Subtract the raptured saints, and figure one fourth of the remaining. And that means more than a billion people to die in this counterfeit Armageddon.

Jeremiah 25:2-33

"Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Behold evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth. And the slain of the Lord shall be at that day from one end of earth even unto the other end of the earth. They shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried, they shall be refuse upon the ground."

So the USA will be involved in the destruction. Russia will be crippled for years, by the final battle, but the USA will not be a factor ever again.. When the Antichrist stands up at the end of this war, with Russia crippled, and the USA devastated, it is asked, Who is able to stand up against him, and the inference is no one... for the two current super powers will be gone.

The USA is predicted to come to an end, but this is after the rapture.

So, we must use this time to witness and evangelize, not fear and hide.

Jeremiah 30:11

Though I make a full end of all nations whither I have scattered thee; yet will I not make a full end of thee (Israel)."

Micah 5:15

"I will execute vengeance in anger and fury upon the nations (none are excepted), such as they have not heard."

Ezekiel 39:21

"And all the nations shall see My judgment."

Obadiah 15-16

"For the day of the Lord is near upon all the nations and they shall be as though they had not been."

Haggai 2:22

"And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength fo the kingdoms of the nations."

Isaiah 42:1

"...I have put My Spirit upon Him (Christ); He shall bring judgment to the nations."

Jeremiah 4:7

"The lion is come up from his thicket, and the Destroyer of the nations is on His way."

The terrorism of these times, shows us the devil and his cohorts sense the nearness of the rapture of the saints, and the devil wants to kill all he can. He also knows his time is short, and soon he will face judgment. He is desperate and in fear. We know what is going on, and our eyes are looking for our Savior with hope and joy.

Luke 21:28 (KJV)

28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
