We are to ‘watch and pray’. This requires an alertness, and a readiness to do the sharpening that Lord desires us to be doing.

Matthew 26:41 (KJV)

41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Prayer will bring us help. Prayer will bring us healing. Prayer will bring us revival. Prayer will bring fiery power to dispel the enemy.

James 5:16
"Pray one for another... that ye may be healed."

The devil’s flee when you pray offensively. Too many pray only defensively. They ignore the demonic battle. They hide from demons and the battle against them. They pray for help, they pray for survival, they pray for a hiding place.

Others learn to do battle against the enemy. They pray to bind them, to send rebellious ones to the abyss. They pray to defeat their plans, and bring their counsel to naught. They pray fiery rhema, not just defensive rhema.

Fiery prayers....

There are different kinds of prayer. Cancellation prayers are one kind. When cursed, pray for a blessing upon them. When mistreated, pray and ask God to convict them.  Turn the devil’s fiery darts into darts of rhema upon the firers of those darts. Bind and abyss those demons that are obsessing some to fire verbal darts at you.

Claim for Jesus prayers, for the troublesome, for the bullies, for the antagonistic ones. There are some who are ‘mouthy’ and fire darts on a constant basis. Ask Jesus to save them, and make them witnesses for Him, make them preachers, and make them soul winners. This is asking largely, and those prayers will be like ‘fiery rhema’.

The devils hate prayers that ask largely, and do more than ask Jesus to make them stop. Ask Jesus to save, to sanctify, and to make them great ministers. The devils are attempting to invade and seduce saints from truth.

I Timothy 4:1
"...in the latter times, some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils....’

The word ‘depart’ is ‘aphistemi’, meaning ‘to revolt from.’ There is a revolt from the faith. They flee any battle, and the battle is here. They are wimpy and afraid of demonic battle. The devil enjoys that kind of saint, for when battle comes, they hide in foxholes, or defect to his side.

There is an old story told of a man who wanted to mock Christians in the local church. So, he dressed up like he thought the devil would look, with a red suit and pitchfork. Midway during a service, he jumped out of the back room, and roared a hateful sound. All of the church jumped up and ran out the door in fear. That is all except for one little old lady sitting in the front row. He roared again and again. Still she did not leave. Finally, he asked her, ‘Aren’t you afraid of me?’ To this, the old woman replied, ‘Don’t you recognize me, I have been on your side all along?’

Today, in a real way, some are more on the devil’s side than the Lord’s. They work more against the real saints, than working against the devil. They are more helpful to the devil than they are to the Lord.

We are in the time of satanic music, dungeons and dragons, drugs, pokemon, prosperity doctrines, guiltless doctrines, no hell heresy, no judgment heresy. These false demonic distractions and evil doctrines lead many from Jesus.

Look at the attack of the evil spirits on our times. Prayer is taken from schools, the Bible is banned from the school room, abortion is rampant, government leaders lie and deceive, there is moral decay in government leaders, pre-marital sex is encouraged, homosexuality is made to look normal rather than sinful, murders are increasing, witchcraft is growing, churches are being burnt, television is not fit to watch most times.

Even in the church we find kingdom theology, prosperity movement, hypocrites abound, pew sitters are many, the cares of life overwhelm the agenda of church programs and sermons.

We find that the ‘conscience is seared with a hot iron.’
(I Timothy 4:2)

What shall we do? Can we quench the fiery darts of dung that the enemy is throwing? Can we fire darts of rhema back? Do we have a mission?

We have a blind nation. We have a blind world. We have many dishonest, deceptive government officials. Few of them listen to God. On the way to hell, and sliding fast, this world is in need of revival. In the Coliseum of Rome, many watched as Christians were slaughtered. Christians were eaten by lions, slain by gladiators, trampled by beasts, crucified on crosses, and burnt on stakes. Many today watch the demonic attack on Christians, and do nothing but ‘spectate’. Some calmly watch as an attack on the Christian faith.

Joel 2:1
‘Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in My holy mountain; let all the inhabitants tremble, for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand.’

The alarm is to be sounded, and we are to hear Him saying ‘wake up’. ‘Smell the flowers’ is a common proverb, but we could change it in these last days to ‘smell the outhouse of the devil’, and ‘smell the fiery darts’.

Joel 3:9
"Proclaim this among the Gentiles, Prepare war. Wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near. Let them come up."

This verse is written to the army of God of which you are called. Demons fear and tremble when the army assembles. They flee then when that same army of God begin to use the fiery rhema. Our prayers of offense against the enemy have great power.

The most aggressive prayer of most Christians is to ask God to bless their meal. We need to ‘watch’ and see what the enemy is doing. Then we need to blow the trumpet and fire the fiery rhema prayers.

I Corinthians 14:8
"For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself for battle?’

If we're not really sure we want in this battle, we will be told not to come. Like Gideon’s army was thinned and thinned, till only 300 remained, there will be a thinning of the army of prophets. Some are only here for the next coffee stop, some come for the parades and victory march. Some though did come to battle the enemy, and God is looking for that group.

Do you hear God’s call? Wake up and listen. You will hear it, and if you do not, then get down on your knees and get saved again, you have lost it, if you do not hear the voice of the Lord. He said, ‘My sheep hear My voice.’ If you are one of His sheep, you hear His call.

Romans 13:11-14
"And that, knowing the time, that it is high time to awake out of sleep, for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand, let us therefore cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light... Let us walk honestly (decently) as in the day... not in rioting (reveling) not in drunkenness (intoxication), not in chambering (whoredom), not in wantonness (sexual perversion), not in strife and envy. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for the flesh to fulfil the lusts thereof."

I Thessalonians 5:6-7
Therefore, let us not sleep, as do others, but let us watch and be sober...’

Demons are attacking. They oft use carnal saints and apostates still in the churches. They oft attack spiritually. We can fire bursts of flaming rhema against them, and watch the Spirit burn the truth upon them. They may resist, but if they do, they are lost. Yet, if they are wise, they yield to the Lord, and are changed.

Our part is to fire the fiery rhema. Our calling is to quench their fiery darts of dung.

We have a calling to ‘sharpen’ our brothers and sisters in the Lord. It will involve much prayer, it will be a spiritual battle, it will be done in love and godliness. Sword sharpening is a battle against the devil.
