WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT KINDS
OF POLITICIANS?

1.
THE ABSALOM KIND OF POLITICIAN

There are many kinds of politicians.  Some are led by God, some are led by their own natures, and some are led by evil spirits.  We find that true in the Bible, and still true today.  The ones led by evil spirits, unwittingly, are in attack mode against the saints of God.  They have varying methods of attack against the Lord and His people. One kind of evil spirit led politician is following the nature and methods of Absalom.

The word for ‘devil’ is ‘diabolos,’ in Greek, and it means ‘adversary, slanderer, false accuser’. It is a word used of satan, mankind, and even Judas.  Mankind has been called ‘diabolos’.

II Timothy 3:3 tells us that ‘perilous times’ come in the last days, when some in the church will be ‘false accusers’.  The word used for ‘false accusers’ is the same word used to describe satan in his name of ‘devil’. The devil is called ‘diabolos’ 34 times in the New Testament.

In 76 places, the word for ‘devil’ is ‘diamonion’ meaning ‘evil spirit. There is one ‘devil’ but many demons.  Demons are disembodied spirits, no longer having bodies, as do the fallen angels, or satan himself.  The demons therefore like to possess a body of a human if they can.  They, in all ages, have possessed political persons, to influence the nation, to corrupt a people.  If they have not possessed the person, they will try to obsess them.

Demons are evil (I Samuel 18:9-10). They are intelligent (I Timothy 4:1). They are powerful (Mark 5:1-18). Yet, since they do not have human bodies, but possess things and people, they are often cast out by the saints:
Mark 16:17
“These signs shall follow them that believe... in My name, they shall cast out devils.”

These demons therefore seek to hide. They have ‘devices’ of plan, seeking to remain undetected, so as to be able to infiltrate congregations, and do harm, without fear of being cast out, rebuked, or resisted.  The ones influencing political persons, make the person seem as presentable, elect-able, and ethical as they possibly can.

I Timothy 4:1-2
“...seducing spirits... speaking lies in hypocrisy.’

I John 4:1-6
“...believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God.’

So, many demons, pretend to be friendly.  They are called ‘familiar spirits’ 16 times in the Bible.  There are various kinds of ‘familiar spirits’ and we have oft named them according to their method of infiltrating and attacking the saints.
All saints are warned against heeding or being fooled by politicians with familiar spirits.  Therefore, we need to study their methods, seek discernment and the word of knowledge.  Shun them, rebuke them.

Leviticus 20:6
“the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits... I will even set My face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.”

That is a pretty strong warning.  Yet, despite that and other verses indicating the care we should have to avoid and not give heed to the political candidates with familiar spirits, we find saints even giving their blessings to such ones.

The electing of political persons, who have succumbed to the evil spirits, familiar spirits,  seeking to use them, is a definite sign of the last days.

I Timothy 4:1
“...giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils.’

Jesus went about destroying the works of the devil.  There are many today who go about encouraging those with doctrines of devils. Some naive, or misguided today even vote into office some who show many signs of being obsessed or possessed with evil spirits.

I John 3:8
“For this purpose,  the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.’

Satan is at war with the saints.  The familiar spirits want to obsess or possess some politicians to be as saboteurs to the plan of God.  The saints that aid them, encourage them, succumb to them, and vote for them, are told that God will ‘set My face against that’ one.  Therefore, we need to learn, be aware, and ‘watch’ in this war against the devils.

We are to test all doctrines, try all spirits, discern good or evil intent, seek spiritual awareness concerning those seeking political office.  The saints can do this due to the Spirit’s help.  The sinners are totally unable to see and know what the saints see and know, so when politicians with familiar spirits are identified, and stopped; we find that the natural, unsaved, carnal persons, will be upset.

I Corinthians 2:12-16
“...natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God.’

Despite the criticism and upsets of the carnal or unsaved within the congregation, the saints of today must test, prove, and identify the politicians that are heeding familiar spirits and are in league with them.

I Thessalonians 5:21
“Prove all things, hold fast to that which is good.’

I John 4:1-6
“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God.’

If satan can come as an angel of light, then so can his workers come with that same disguise:
II Corinthians 11:14-15
“And no marvel; for satan, himself, is transformed into an angel of light.  Therefore it is no great thing  if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness, whose end shall be according to their works.”

The counterfeits are very deluding, very cunning, very deceptive.  The devil is compared to a ‘fowler’, who lays snares to trap the fowl.  The devil seeks to trick many into thinking that these ‘ministers’ of his are really saints, prophets, etc.

Psalms 91:3
“Surely, He shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler.”

The devil is also called a ‘wolf’, and we are told that some come as wolves in sheeps’ clothing.  The devil comes seductively, deceptively, like that wolf in sheep’s clothing.  His defeat was assured by Jesus’ death on the cross, and resurrection.  Yet, the devil is still active in opposition.  We are told to resist him, to be in armor ready for battle against him.

In the tribulation, we see him warring against the saints, empowering the antichrist for battle. He mobilizes armies of humans, to come battle against the returning Lord Jesus.

We should:
‘put on the whole armor of God’
(Ephesians 6:11-18),

know the devil’s devices
(II Corinthians 2:11,

give the devil no place
(Ephesians 4:27),

resist him
(James 4:7),

be sober and vigilant in the fight
(I Peter 5:8-9),

overcome him with the Word
(Matthew 4;1-11, I John 2:14),

overcome him with the blood of Jesus and our testimony of its power
(Revelation 12:11),

and overcome the devil with Jesus and His name (
Ephesians 1:19-22, Ephesians 2:6).

THE ABSALOM POLITICIAN

One deceptive and alluring type of politician that we face in this battle is the Absalom type.  This kind of person is influenced by the same kind of demon that used Absalom, David’s son, to try to dethrone David.

Absalom, David’s son, took Tamar into his home.  That act of love for his sister, who had just been raped by her brother, Amnon, shows that Absalom could present a good front, and seem to be a loving person.  (II Samuel 13:20) Absalom spirits will seek to always have good motives in their deeds, so as to fool the other Christians.

Absalom instructed some servants to kill his brother Amnon. (II Samuel 13:28-29).  The Absalom spirits will also seek to get others enlisted to do the harsh attacks on saints.  They stir up others, to attack, and then if they can, they stay and watch the deeds of attack.

The other sons of David fled at this time, for they likely knew that Absalom’s motive was not just to defend Tamar, but his goal even then was to be king. (II Samuel 13:28-29)  The Absalom spirits will seek to get others to flee, their motives of conquest and power may be cloaked with some ‘good’ facade, but the real desire they have is to take over power.

David was devastated, for he loved Absalom.  Absalom flees from the possible consequences, expecting David to be more wrathful. (II Samuel 13:31) The Absalom spirits seek to get the prophets that stand up to them to flee, but in reality the Absalom spirits will flee quite readily.

Absalom later returned to Jerusalem, after finding that David was not desiring him dead.  This Absalom spirits flee from consequences of their actions, but usually, you see they do not stay gone long.

This  ‘Absalom spirit’ obsesses with a desire for acclamation, and leaving periodically to bring attention to them.  We are to glorify the KING, not seek attention away from the King. Absalom wanted David’s throne. The devil wanted God’s throne.  Many today seek some of God’s throne. They want people to see them as lord’s, and as ones of which to be in awe.

The returning nature, after demanding attention, of this kind of evil spirit is due to brazenness, and pride.  They cannot leave a conquest, if it is not yet won. They want a throne, like Absalom wanted David’s.  Their intent is always, ‘get the throne’. They desire political power, and will lie, deceive, cheat, scheme, to get political advantage.

Absalom, after returning, prepared for the next part of the plan. He prepared chariots, horses, and 50 men (to run ahead of him, announcing his coming, proclaiming his greatness).  (II Samuel 15:1) The Absalom spirits today get their victims to encourage others to proclaim their greatness.  They want it well announced, and often announced.

Then Absalom sat by the gate to David’s court.  When individuals had disputes, David would listen to each side, and make a judgment on who was right, who was wrong.  Absalom would question them when they emerged from that conference.  Absalom would always side with the one not chosen to be right.  He would tell them that if he were king, judge, he would have ruled for them.  He said ‘oh that I were made judge... I would do ... justice.” (II Samuel 15:2-4) We can hear a version of those words, coming from those with Absalom spirits obsessing them, today.  They seek to rob others of power by alluring others to their side.  They fool many with this tactic, and this type of device is the main feature of Absalom spirits.

Absalom would extend his hand to all that felt wronged, even if the judgment of David had been fair.  He would then ‘kiss’ their hand, pretending friendship and support.  He ‘stole the hearts’ of the people in this way. (II Samuel 15:5-6) The Absalom spirits will also seek to steal affection.
Absalom sent spies to be ready to announce his ascension to the throne, at the first possible time.  These ‘spies’ pretended loyalty to David, but in reality were wanting to devastate the real supporters of David, by suddenly seeming to change their loyalty to Absalom.  This was meant to devastate those who supported David.
( II Samuel 15:10)

The absalom spirits today, like to get their friends to pretend allegiance to the ones the absalom spirits want to harm.  Then suddenly, the ‘spies’ turn on the other ones, swear allegiance to those with the absalom spirits.  True saints need discernment, words of knowledge, words of wisdom to defeat this type of attack.

David was a godly man, and told Joab to ‘deal gently’ with Absalom. (II Samuel 18:5) In many situations, we see saints today dealing gently with those with absalom spirits.

The long hair of Absalom was caught in some branches as he rode beneath the tree.  Hanging by his hair, Joab came up and pierced the still living Absalom with three darts.  Then ten other companions of Joab came and beat Absalom to death. (II Samuel 18:9-14) The Absalom spirits obsess some, yet today, and endanger them to God’s wrath.  The ones who are fooled by these ‘Absalom spirits’ and their victims, are in danger from the judgment of the Lord.

A heap of stones was built with Absalom’s body within, and the name of that place is called ‘Absalom’s place’.  The Absalom spirits will do similarly in their attack against congregations.  Many will follow the Absaloms of today, fooled by their allurements, and by their stealing of the affections of others.  The church has found this Absalom spirit increasing in this last time.  It is time we became aware of the Absalom spirits.

Leviticus 20:6
“the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits... I will even set My face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.”

The saints of God need to be aware of this kind of demonic activity in the political world.
