POWER OF ATTORNEY
A power of attorney is authorization to act for a person in specified matters. A power of attorney many be limited to one specific act, or a type of act. Its scope is spelled out in a document, and may be permanent or temporary.
If the grantor dies, or is incapacitated, ill, or unable for some reason to handle matters, the power of attorney gives durable provisions and authority to someone. We have been given a power of authority by our Lord to do powerful things. It is a legal right, given by heaven, and not deniable by any earthly authority, nor by any demonic authority. Jesus went to heaven, and left us with this power of attorney, to act in His name, to command devils, to bind them and abyss them in His name, with His authority.
Mark 16:17-18 (KJV)
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In My name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
DEMONS FEAR THIS MIRACULOUS POWER
BESTOWED UPON US
BY THIS POWER OF ATTORNEY
"...two possessed with devils... exceeding fierce... art Thou come thither to torment us before our time? ... swine feeding... when cast out... whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea."
Jesus could have cast these demons into the abyss, but they were so fearful that they obeyed His command. If they had been disobedient, He would have had the angels take them to the abyss in chains. Instead, He cast them into pigs. Then, the pigs preferred suicide to demon possession.
The demons feared the power of Jesus, Who had made Himself only as a man. Jesus could do miracles, as we do, with the power of the Holy Spirit. Still, the demons recognized such power. We have been given the same power, a legal, authoritative power over evil spirits.
We are told by our Lord that we will have authority to do greater miracles than He did, and with such power, the demons fear the Christians who realize this. The Lord wants us to know such power over the fearful demons. Miracles and wonders will occur when we speak commands to the fearful demons who have bound and harmed many in our day.
Once, as I was ministering the word to a parishioner, a motorcyclist came to the intersection by us, and the engines were revved, and revved so loudly that I could not continue to be heard by this man who needed to hear the message God was giving me for him. Without realizing what I was really doing, I spoke out "Stop". Immediately, the engine died. I was so shocked that as I continued to minister to the man, I kept looking over to see the frustrated man try and try to get his motor started, and finally he began to push it away. The noise that hindered the Lord's work, was stopped with a rhema word.
The devil uses noise, storms, winds, etc. to hinder God's work. We need rhema word to undo the work of the devil, so that the work of the Lord goes forth. It is not our voice, or our power that brings such power, but we must speak with RHEMA WORD.
The plot of the devil against God's work can be so great at times, that a rhema word from the Lord is the only way to accomplish what God has told us to do. We need to learn what constitutes a rhema word, and how to use such power effectively for the Lord.
"If ye abide in Me, and MY WORDS ABIDE IN YOU, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you."
Let us consider what is the "WORD" that is to abide in us. It is part of the armor we need to stand up to the devil and to defeat him as never before in this latter rain revival!
Ephesians 6:11-13, 17-18
"PUT ON THE WHOLE ARMOR OF GOD, THAT YE MAY BE ABLE TO STAND AGAINST THE WILES OF THE DEVIL. FOR WE WRESTLE NOT AGAINST FLESH AND BLOOD, BUT AGAINST PRINCIPALITIES, AGAINST POWERS, AGAINST THE RULERS OF THE DARKNESS OF THIS WORLD, AGAINST SPIRITUAL WICKEDNESS IN HIGH PLACES. WHEREFORE TAKE UNTO YOU THE WHOLE ARMOR OF GOD, THAT YE MAY BE ABLE TO WITHSTAND IN THE EVIL DAY, AND HAVING DONE ALL, TO STAND...AND TAKE...THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT, WHICH IS THE WORD OF GOD. PRAYING ALWAYS WITH ALL PRAYER AND SUPPLICATION IN THE SPIRIT, AND WATCHING THEREUNTO WITH ALL PERSEVERANCE AND SUPPLICATION FOR ALL SAINTS."
The part of the armor described as the "sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God," refers to the "machaira" of the Roman times. It was not a sword as we usually think. We think of a sword as one that one of the three musketeers would have used. This sword though was a short sword, a dagger, or like one of our knives. It was used in close combat.
God did not offer us a spear, to throw at the enemy 20 yards away. Nor did He offer us a bow and arrow, to shoot at the enemy on a hillside away from us. No! He gave us a short dagger, that we must march right up to the enemy and bravely use. We are to come face to face with the enemy. Not hiding in a foxhole, occasionally rising up to hurl a spear and then duck into safety again. We are to get into the battlefield, bravely confront the devil and his plans, and use the short dagger that the Lord has given us, i.e. the Word (rhema) of God.
The "WORD" referred to here is the Greek word "rhema" and not the word "logos" that many have assumed it to be.
"Rhema" denotes an "utterance of God."
"Logos" denotes the "Word of God, i.e. the Bible."
Rhema is the speaking of God through us, perhaps using God's Word, or by prophecy, by word of knowledge, or by inspiration. Now that we have Jesus to abide in us, we should expect Him to speak through us. As we learn to ABIDE IN HIM, and find that He also begins to ABIDE IN US, the end result is that we will have His RHEMA WORD in us, and can therefore begin to speak it.
Jesus spoke the words of the Father, for the Father dwelt in Him, in the same way that Jesus seeks to abide in us. Jesus spoke the words of God. These were His rhema words.
"I have many things to say and to judge of you; But He that sent Me is true. I speak to the world those things which I have heard of Him."
We are to follow the Lord's example, and speak to the world the things we hear of the Lord Who abides in us. Jesus spoke to the storm, the earthquake, and the waves, and they listened, for His words were the RHEMA OF GOD.
"But as the Father hath taught Me, I speak these things."
The rhema of God is the message with which we will proclaim in the last day revival. The early church had rhema word abundantly in the former rain revival.
Notice what Paul proclaimed:
"BUT WHAT SAITH IT? 'THE WORD (rhema) IS NIGH THEE, EVEN IN THY MOUTH, AND IN THY HEART, THAT IS THE WORD (rhema) OF FAITH, WHICH WE PREACH... SO THAT FAITH COMETH BY HEARING, AND HEARING BY THE WORD (rhema) OF GOD."
The Word of truth is near ("nigh") us also, as it was for them, for the Lord dwells in us, as Emmanuel. He uses our lips, our tongues, and our voice box to speak to this world. It is Jesus, Who is "the Truth" abiding in us, and the "Spirit of Truth" Who works with us - and both of Them are creating the "Word" (rhema) that is abiding and resident within us.
"Thy Word is truth."
Where the Spirit of Truth is at work, the Lord will be speaking His word through His children. The Spirit will be encouraging the message of Jesus so much that somehow the Word of truth will become heard. We can be a part of the Spirit's work by uttering the rhema Word.
"If ye continue in My word, then are ye My disciples indeed. And if you know the truth, the truth will set you free."
We can grow in faith more than we ever dreamed if we learn to listen to the rhema word, and speak it forth as the Lord directs. Faith is built up in us, and through us, by the speaking forth of the rhema of God.
This gift of rhema is for all ages, and for all saints, but we in the last days can have a double portion of it for this last revival before the coming of Jesus for His church. Do not believe the lies of the hypocritical, dead, Laodicean saints. It is not something for only past Bible times.
I Peter 1:25
"BUT THE WORD (rhema) OF THE LORD ENDURETH FOREVER, AND THIS IS THE WORD (rhema) BY WHICH THE GOSPEL IS PREACHED UNTO YOU."
