WHAT POLITICAL AND NATIONAL EVENTS
ARE BEING OR SOON TO BE FULFILLED
IS the RAPTURE of the CHURCH
and the SECOND COMING of Jesus
SOME LAST DAY EVENTS
OF WHICH THE BIBLE FORETOLD.
1. God has prophesied in the Bible that there would be great world wide persecution of Jews. Amidst the many prophecies of this, we find in Ezekiel a vivid description of the worldwide persecution of the Jewish people.
Ezekiel 35:1-15 (KJV)
1 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
2 Son of man, set thy face against mount Seir, and prophesy against it,
3 And say unto it, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O mount Seir, I am against thee, and I will stretch out mine hand against thee, and I will make thee most desolate.
4 I will lay thy cities waste, and thou shalt be desolate, and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.
5 Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast shed the blood of the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time that their iniquity had an end:
6 Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will prepare thee unto blood, and blood shall pursue thee: since thou hast not hated blood, even blood shall pursue thee.
7 Thus will I make mount Seir most desolate, and cut off from it him that passeth out and him that returneth.
8 And I will fill his mountains with his slain men: in thy hills, and in thy valleys, and in all thy rivers, shall they fall that are slain with the sword.
9 I will make thee perpetual desolations, and thy cities shall not return: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
10 Because thou hast said, These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess it; whereas the LORD was there:
11 Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will even do according to thine anger, and according to thine envy which thou hast used out of thy hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them, when I have judged thee.
12 And thou shalt know that I am the LORD, and that I have heard all thy blasphemies which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given us to consume.
13 Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me, and have multiplied your words against Me: I have heard them.
14 Thus saith the Lord GOD; When the whole earth rejoiceth, I will make thee desolate.
15 As thou didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be desolate, O mount Seir, and all Idumea, even all of it: and they shall know that I am the LORD.
Ezekiel 36:1-5 (KJV)
1 Also, thou son of man, prophesy unto the mountains of Israel, and say, Ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the LORD:
2 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because the enemy hath said against you, Aha, even the ancient high places are ours in possession:
3 Therefore prophesy and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because they have made you desolate, and swallowed you up on every side, that ye might be a possession unto the residue of the heathen, and ye are taken up in the lips of talkers, and are an infamy of the people:
4 Therefore, ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord GOD; Thus saith the Lord GOD to the mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys, to the desolate wastes, and to the cities that are forsaken, which became a prey and derision to the residue of the heathen that are round about;
5 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Surely in the fire of my jealousy have I spoken against the residue of the heathen, and against all Idumea, which have appointed my land into their possession with the joy of all their heart, with despiteful minds, to cast it out for a prey.
Partial return of the Jews
The world is now experiencing antisemitism far greater than it was before. It has not only been existent in all of history, but is far more now. Synagogues are being attacked, Jewish people are targeted on the streets. The United Nations passes resolution after resolution against Israel. The Jewish people seek to return to their own land, and will more and more as this persecution continues to escalate.
2. There is happening right now, an ever increasing return of the Jews to their God given land. Ezekiel had a vision of a valley of dry bones. The dry, dead bones progressively returned to life and restoration. Israel has progressively been returning to life, and are being set up for the Lord’s plan to restore them to the where they can once again decide to or not to accept the Messiah, Jesus.
Ezekiel 37:1-14 (KJV)
1 The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,
2 And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.
3 And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest.
4 Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.
5 Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:
6 And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
7 So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.
8 And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.
9 Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.
10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.
11 Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.
12 Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.
13 And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves,
14 And shall put My Spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD.
in 722 B.C., the Assyrians invaded the northern ten tribes and led many captive. About 125 years later (606 and 587 B.C.), the Babylonians subdued the other two tribes. Ezekiel was among those first deported to the nation of Babylon. God had foretold through many prophets the exile and a later return to the land of Israel. Under Ezra and Nehemiah the nation was returned to the land, but there was little spiritual revival of the people back to God. When Jesus the Messiah came more than 400 years later, He was rejected by many, most of the land of Israel.
Soon after that rejection, the land was desolated again, and this 70 A.D. crushing of Israel by the Romans resulted in the scattering of the Jews to many countries of the world. Ezekiel prophesied mainly to this scattering, and to its later renewal to the land, and to the renewal of the Israelites to God in the last days. God disciplined a disobedient and sinful people for nearly 2000 years, but the prophecies of many of God's prophets told of a return to the land, and to God. The return has taken many years thus far, and is still continuing.
On July 24, 1922, the League of Nations tried to establish a nation for Israel, but Arab resistance, and Anti-Zionist sentiment about the world resulted in much resistance to Jews even coming near to their land.
On November 29, 1947, the United Nations approved that Palestine be divided into two separate states, one for the Palestinians, and the other for the Israelites. Israel was given a slight, and narrow strip of land that was mostly barren, unwanted by the Palestinians. The Palestinians were given what we now call the nation of Jordan.
On May 14, 1948, the re-establishment of Israel was proclaimed. This little nation had a total population of 650,000.
The very next day, May 15, 1948, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia (40 million Arabs) sent their armies to destroy the one day old nation. It took seven months of fighting for the little nation to defeat the Arabs. The Arabs signed an agreement for Israel to take 23% more land than first given them, but the land was still smaller than what God had given, and promised to restore to Israel.
On May 17, 1967, the Egypt, Jordan, and Syria declared war against Israel. The Egyptians boasted 50,000 troops and 1000 tanks. Within three days of war, Israel had destroyed two thirds of Egypt's air force, and paralyzed her ground forces. Jordan was ousted from its part of Jerusalem, and Syria lost control of the Golan heights from which marksmen would regularly shoot at Israeli people, even when there was no declared war. This six day war resulted in Israel losing 700 men, but the Arabs lost nearly 30,000. Israel enlarged her land from 8000 square miles to 26,000 miles.
Six years later on October 6, 1973 (Yom Kippur, the day of Atonement), The Arabs attacked. Egypt came with 800,000 men, 2000 tanks, 500 planes, and 150 anti-aircraft missile sites. Syria came with 1400 tanks. Israel was given little if any chance of surviving such an attack. Yet, Israel counter-attacked and came within 60 miles of coming to Cairo, and within 20 miles of Damascus, Syria's capital. In less than three weeks, Israel was the unchallengeable victor.
Peace with Egypt was negotiated peace, and Israel agreed to return the Sinai for several promises given by Egypt. Syria has never agreed to peace with Israel, and Palestinians keep pushing to get territory back that they lost in their nefarious attempts to destroy Israel. Lately, Israel has tried to pacify these hateful Palestinians who have terrorized Israel and the rest of the world for years with their bombing of innocent school children, airline passengers, etc. Israel does not owe them any land back, no more than the United States owes New Mexico and Texas back to the nation of Mexico.
The Israeli nation has claimed less land than that originally given to them by God, and God will continue to give Israel victory over any nation that attacks, and will restore piece by piece the land He says is theirs. However, being back to the land is only part of the restoration that God wants. He wants a spiritual revival also.
Ezekiel 37 relates the prophecy given from God to Ezekiel about the spiritual revival to come for Israel. It is probably one of the best known chapters of Ezekiel.
The chapter speaks of a "valley" which is from the Hebrew word "biqa" meaning "plain". It also refers to "wind" (vs. 9), "breath" (vss. 5,6,8,9), and "spirit" (vss. 1,14) from the word "ruah" meaning "air in motion, wind, breath."
"Can these bones live?" (vs. 3). The normal answer would be "NO!", but this is Ezekiel, who had enough faith in God that he would preach to mountains, trees, and play in the sand when told to by God. Ezekiel believed.
Ezekiel is told to prophesy to these dry bones.
His prophetic message proclaimed: (vss. 5-6)
"will cause breath to enter and ye shall live..."
"will lay sinews upon you..."
"will bring flesh upon you..."
"will cover you with skin..."
"will put breath in you..."
"ye shall live..."
The results were:
a great "noise"
a great "shaking"
"bones came together"
"sinews and flesh came up"
This is where Israel stands spiritually today. They are restored to life as a nation, they have much of the land originally promised to them, but there is no revival of spiritual life. Most of the people have returned to faith in God. There is "no breath" in them.
3. The Jewish people are troubled, attacked, and terrorized by Arab people. The persecution will continue until Jesus returns.
Daniel predicted 490 years of God dealing with the nation of Israel. A total of 483 of those years have passed. In the meantime God has dealt with the Gentiles. Seven of the years are left for God to deal with the Jews. We call this last seven years -‘Daniel's 70th week, the tribulation’. We are now in an overlap period. God is ending His dealings with the Gentiles, preparing to rapture His church. He is also beginning to deal again with the Jewish people.
"JERUSALEM SHALL BE TRODDEN DOWN OF THE GENTILES, UNTIL THE TIMES OF THE GENTILES BE FULFILLED."
Yes, the time of God working mainly with the Gentiles is being ‘fulfilled’. The time of Him, not dealing mainly with the Jewish nation, is almost over. In 1967, Jerusalem came under the control of the Israelites. This was God's way of announcing to the church that He would soon be dealing with the Jewish people again. The rapture of the church is imminent.
"THEN YE (Jews) SHALL BE HATED OF ALL NATIONS FOR MY NAME'S SAKE."
Most of the time in the U.N. is spent on resolutions condemning Israel. Terrorists can strike at Israel, but if Israel retaliates, the U.N. wants to condemn them. The Arab terrorists may blow up a plane of innocent people and go un-condemned. If Israel bombs a camp of terrorists who periodically attack Israel, then the U.N. condemns them. Antisemitism has been stated and restated so many times that even some Christians believe it. We need to become more vocal for Israel.
"AS CONCERNING THE GOSPEL, THEY ARE ENEMIES FOR YOUR SAKES, BUT AS TOUCHING THE ELECTION, THEY ARE BELOVED FOR THE FATHER'S SAKE."
There are presently 4 to 5 million Jews in Israel. In the world there are 14 million Jews. 6 million are in the United States. 3 million are in Russia. The rest are scattered amidst the world. For 2000 years the Jews have been scattered.
"BEHOLD, I WILL GATHER THEM OUT OF ALL COUNTRIES, WHITHER I HAVE DRIVEN THEM IN MINE ANGER, AND IN MY FURY."
"FOR I WILL TAKE YOU FROM AMONG THE HEATHEN AND GATHER YOU OUT OF ALL COUNTRIES, AND WILL BRING YOU INTO YOUR OWN LAND... YE SHALL BE MY PEOPLE, AND I SHALL BE YOUR GOD."
God has been re-gathering the Jewish people back to Israel since it became a nation again on May 14, 1948. The Bible predicted that when the nation of Israel was reborn, the generation then present would not have died till all things (rapture, tribulation, and second coming of Jesus) would be fulfilled.
"...THIS GENERATION SHALL NOT PASS AWAY TILL ALL THESE THINGS BE FULFILLED."
"BEHOLD, I WILL BRING THEM (Jews) FROM THE NORTH COUNTRY (Russia)... HE THAT SCATTERED ISRAEL WILL GATHER HIM... FOR THE LORD HATH REDEEMED JACOB (Israel) AND RANSOMED HIM FROM THE HAND OF HIM THAT WAS STRONGER THAN HE."
The break up of the Soviet Union has allowed many Jews to finally be allowed to escape that area. Plane loads, and boat loads are still arriving in Israel. Following the rapture of the church, the devil will begin to cause greater persecution of the Jews left in this country. Unhindered by the Christians, the sinful Gentiles will cause many Jews in this country to flee back to their homeland. They will escape in the nick of time for God has a horrendous defeat planned for the post rapture United States. He will save the Jews that flee to their homeland.
The devil has a plan, still, to annihilate Israel from this world, for he knows God intends to bring them again to a choice of Jesus, and see if they will this time respond for Him. Many will.
4. There will soon be a war in Ethiopia against God's people. This will result in the return of the ark of the covenant to Israel. That will cause a far greater zeal of the Jewish people still scattered to return to Israel.
Isaiah 18 tells us much.
(this should be "Ho", a call to attention).
"TO THE LAND SHADOWING WITH WINGS"
(The angels have been given orders to watch over this land, to protect the descendants of the Levites who still reside there, and to protect the ARK now hidden in the land).
"WHICH IS BEYOND THE RIVERS OF ETHIOPIA"
(the Nile River begins in Ethiopia)
"THAT SENDETH AMBASSADORS BY THE SEA, EVEN IN VESSELS OF BULRUSHES UPON THE WATERS, SAYING, GO YE SWIFT MESSENGERS, TO A NATION SCATTERED AND PEELED"
("scattered" means "drawn, tall", and "peeled" means "glossy, polished skin")
"TO A PEOPLE TERRIBLE FROM THEIR BEGINNING HITHERTO"
(Ethiopia is one of the few ancient unconquered nations of the world)
"A NATION METED OUT AND TRODDEN DOWN"
(Although unconquered, the nation has been exploited at times)
"WHOSE LAND THE RIVERS HAVE SPOILED"
(the rivers cut up and divide the land of Ethiopia)
"ALL YE INHABITANTS OF THE WORLD AND DWELLERS ON THE EARTH"
(this means that all the inhabitants of the world should take note)
(television will likely expose many of these events)
"WHEN HE LIFTETH UP AN ENSIGN ON THE MOUNTAINS"
(the "ensign" refers to Christ, or a symbol of Christ. Here it cannot refer to Christ, for this is an event that will occur before the second coming... the ARK is the only symbol that fits.)
"AND WHEN HE BLOWETH A TRUMPET, HEAR YE"
(the kind of trumpet here is the ram's horn, and the blowing of the ram's horn always preceded the ARK. I Chron. 15:24, Josh. 6:4,8)
"FOR SO THE LORD SAID TO ME, I WILL TAKE MY REST, AND I WILL CONSIDER MY DWELLING PLACE"
(this same phrase is used of the ARK in II Chron. 6:41 and Psalms 132:8)
"LIKE A CLEAR HEAT UPON HERBS AND LIKE A CLOUD OF DEW IN THE HEAT OF THE HARVEST"
(this tells us that this great event will occur after the rain, at the end of a rainy season, during the hot dry season of the year, or during a drought... which will make the invading force to have advantage here)
"FOR AFORE THE HARVEST"
(before the invaders can have total victory, or before the harvest of the believers at the rapture time)
"WHEN THE BUD IS PERFECT"
(plans are perfected, either of the enemy, or of God's plans to culminate events in that day)
"AND THE SOUR GRAPE IS RIPENING IN THE FLOWER"
(everything looks good for victory to the enemy)
"HE SHALL BOTH CUT OFF THE SPRIGS WITH PRUNING HOOKS"
(God will fight and destroy their plans, He will fight for the Ethiopians as He did for Israel)
"AND TAKE AWAY AND CUT DOWN THE BRANCHES"
(the armies of the enemy will be killed when the ARK is carried out from its hiding place)
"THEY SHALL BE LEFT TOGETHER UNTO THE FOWLS OF THE MOUNTAINS"
(the kites and vultures will eat the bodies of the slain)
"AND TO THE BEASTS OF THE EARTH"
(jackals and hyenas will feed upon the fallen bodies)
"AND THE FOWLS SHALL SUMMER UPON THEM"
(the bodies will be left alone for the feasting)
"AND ALL THE BEASTS OF THE EARTH SHALL WINTER UPON THEM"
(this indicates that for a whole year, will this army lay unburied, unmoved.)
"IN THAT TIME"
(this means that during that year, when this victory over the enemy, and the removal of the ARK from its hiding place, the ARK will be taken to its place of "rest")
"SHALL THE PRESENT BE BROUGHT TO THE LORD OF HOSTS"
(the ARK OF THE COVENANT will be returned to the city of the Lord)
"OF A PEOPLE TERRIBLE FROM THEIR BEGINNING HITHERTO"
(the unconquered Jews and Christians shall carry this ARK back to Israel)
"A NATION METED OUT AND TRODDEN DOWN, WHOSE LAND THE RIVERS HAVE SPOILED"
(again, we are reminded that this ARK is coming from Ethiopia)
"TO THE PLACE OF THE NAME OF THE LORD OF HOSTS, THE MT. ZION"
(Mt. Zion is where the ARK will be taken)
How did the ARK get to Ethiopia?
The story has been well publicized since 1935. In the "Saturday Evening Post" of September 21, 1935, an article called "The King of Kings" by Gordon MacCreaugh. In this article, the author had an interview with Haile Selassie. He tells of a record kept guarded in ancient churches, that the ARK is in a church in Aksum.
The record tells how the Queen of Sheba went to visit King Solomon, and later bore to Solomon, a son, named Menelik. When Menelik was a young man, he visited Solomon. Solomon so pleased with Menelik that he had an exact reproduction of the ARK made for this son.
At a farewell party given for Menelik, the priests were drunk, and the ARKS were switched. Menelik took the original ARK back to Ethiopia.
The Encyclopedia Britannica says under "Aksum, Ethiopia":
"It (Aksum) contains the ancient church where according to tradition the tabot, or ARK OF THE COVENANT, brought from Jerusalem, by the son of Solomon and the queen of Sheba, was deposited and is still supposed to rest."
The ARK is now in Aksum. This was the ancient capital of Ethiopia, in Tigre province. The city is at an altitude of 7000 feet on a mountain. This ARK is in the Church of St. Mary of Zion.
Shortly before Mussolini invaded Ethiopia, the B'nai B'rith Messenger reported:
"The tablets of the law received by Moses on Mt. Sinai and the ARK OF THE COVENANT, both said to have been brought to Ethiopia from Jerusalem by Menelik, the son of king Solomon and the queen of Sheba, who was the founder of the present Abyssinian dynasty have been removed to the mountain stronghold of Abyssinia for safe keeping because of the impending Italian invasion according to word received here from Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia."
The Hebrew word for "ensign" is the word "nes". It does not always refer to the same thing. In Isaiah 11:10, it refers to Christ. In Isaiah 11:12, it refers to a symbol of Christ. In Numbers 21:8-9, it refers to a pole, a symbol of Christ.
The ARK is a perfect "ensign" for it showed the glory of God as pictured by Jesus Christ:
a. being made of wood and gold, it shows the union of mankind and deity in the person of Jesus.
b. the ARK disappeared from Israel, so Christ ascended after His resurrection.
c. the ARK will be returned to Israel, and be placed on Mt. Zion... as Christ will soon return and put a throne on Mt. Zion...
d. for a time, a substitute Ark was honored by unsuspecting Jews...
e. during the tribulation, the Antichrist will be accepted as the Messiah by many Jews.
The Jews will return to Israel, even more than they have thus far. The return has thus far mostly been a physical return. There will be a spiritual return of the Jews to Jehovah.
"The remnant shall return, even the remnant of Jacob unto the mighty God. For though Thy people Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return."
It is the returning of the "ensign" that will spark the revival to Judaism.
"And He will lift up an ensign to the nations from afar, and will hiss unto them from the end of the earth, and behold they shall come with speed swiftly."
"Even them will I bring to My holy mountain and make them joyful in My house of prayer: their burnt offerings and sacrifices shall be accepted upon Mine altar."
"And He shall set up an ensign for the nations and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth."
As this ARK is brought back to the land of Israel, the waters will part in the Red Sea, and the ARK will be carried over on dry ground.
"And the Lord shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian Sea; and with His mighty wind shall He shake His hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men to go over dry shod."
"And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall beat off from the channel of the river unto the stream of Egypt, and ye shall be gathered one by one, O ye children of Israel. And it shall come to pass in that day, that the great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship the Lord in the holy mount at Jerusalem."
"For I, saith the Lord, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her."
The Antichrist (called the "Assyrian" by Isaiah) will initially be afraid of the ARK. This fear will make him willing to sign a treaty with them...
"Then shall the Assyrian fall with the sword, and he shall passover to his stronghold for fear, and his princes shall be afraid of the ensign, saith the Lord, Whose fire is in Zion."
A tabernacle will be built for the ARK.
"In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen."
The tabernacle of David was the then on Mt. Zion, which held the ARK till the temple was finished.
A cloud by day, and a fire by night will accompany the ARK, as it did in the wilderness.
"on Mt. Zion... a cloud and smoke by day, and a flaming fire by night... there shall be a tabernacle."
Exciting events are now on the horizon. They are exciting because they mean that Jesus is coming for us, very soon. Some events are to happen after we depart for seven years, and are with Jesus in heaven while these transpire.
"THY WORD IS A LAMP UNTO MY FEET, AND A LIGHT UNTO MY PATH."
