The joke is told about someone
who trusted only the message of God in the Written Word.
One day, he opened the Bible
and wanted the Spirit to speak a message to him through the Word.
The passage was ‘Judas went out and hanged himself.’
That started the young man,
so he gave the Spirit another chance,
and did it once again.
This time, the passage was ‘Go and do thou likewise.’
"Whoa", thought the young man, that can’t be right.
So, he closed the Bible, and opened it a third time,
to see what the Spirit wanted to say to him.
The third passage was ‘What thou doest, do quickly."
The Holy Spirit if listened to within your heart,
would confirm that He speaks a message to your heart,
and is not bound by just the Words of the Bible,
though, His spoken words will not deny truths of the Written Word.
This young man was reading verses about other situations,
to other persons, not meant for Him.
When we read verses like 'No weapon formed against you shall prosper',
we have an inner voice of the Holy Spirit that confirms that this verse
is one that is for us to claim...
