BE AWARE, but not scared, THESE ARE THE LAST DAYS
"BE WATCHFUL, AND STRENGTHEN THE THINGS WHICH REMAIN... IF THEREFORE THOU SHALT NOT WATCH, I WILL COME ON THEE AS A THIEF, AND THOU SHALT NOT KNOW WHAT HOUR I WILL COME UPON THEE."
These are the last days. Christians know it, the devil even realizes it. We need to be ready and aware. We do not need to be fooled by those the devil uses to scare, to terrify, to cause to hide. We are about to be raptured from this dangerous world. We need not hoard seven years of food for us and our neighbors, but we need to be ready to escape this tribulation and take as many souls with us as we can.
There are some who have changed from pre-trib to mid or post-trib belief because they can market their food supplies and get rich by turning attention from winning souls to hiding with their food supply. The devil is made happy watching Christians fear the greatest event of their life, the rapture.
The Lord does not want to come to us, "as a thief." There is the "IF" in that verse that most ignore. We are not supposed to be surprised by His coming, "if" we are aware and awake. Some things are revealed to us, and we are to know them.
"THE SECRET THINGS BELONG UNTO THE LORD OUR GOD: BUT THOSE THINGS WHICH ARE REVEALED BELONG UNTO US AND TO OUR CHILDREN FOREVER, THAT WE MAY DO ALL THE WORKS OF THIS LAW."
It is the children "of the night", or "of darkness", that are to be taken by surprise by the "day of the Lord." It shall come as a "thief" to them.
I Thessalonians 5:1-11
"BUT OF THE TIMES AND THE SEASONS, BRETHREN, YE HAVE NO NEED THAT I WRITE UNTO YOU. FOR YOURSELVES KNOW PERFECTLY THAT THE DAY OF THE LORD COMETH AS A THIEF IN THE NIGHT. FOR WHEN THEY SHALL SAY, 'PEACE AND SAFETY;' THEN COMETH SUDDEN DESTRUCTION UPON THEM, AS TRAVAIL UPON A WOMAN WITH CHILD, AND THEY SHALL NOT ESCAPE. BUT YE, BRETHREN, ARE NOT IN DARKNESS, THAT THAT DAY SHOULD OVERTAKE YOU AS A THIEF. YE ARE ALL THE CHILDREN OF THE LIGHT, AND THE CHILDREN OF THE DAY; WE ARE NOT OF THE NIGHT, NOR OF DARKNESS. THEREFORE LET US NOT SLEEP, AS DO OTHERS; BUT LET US WATCH... COMFORT YOURSELVES TOGETHER, AND EDIFY ONE ANOTHER, EVEN AS ALSO YE DO."
We, as Christians, are to be different that the world. We are "not to be in darkness" and surprised by the Lord's coming.
"BEHOLD, I WILL MAKE THEE KNOW WHAT SHALL BE IN THE LAST END OF THE INDIGNATION (the great tribulation), FOR AT THE APPOINTED TIME, THE END SHALL BE."
Long ago, God appointed a time for the second coming and all the events prophesied. These dates are set and will not be changed. the very idea that God did not know what would happen, and would have to change His planned times because of events that He did not foresee -- is foolish. He warns in Revelation against the very idea that we can add to, or take away from...the events just as He outlined them. ( Revelation 22:18-20)
Are we not to be concerned by the "when" of these events??? Surely, we are. But there is a passage that many try to appeal to, in order that they might justify "unconcern" toward the times.
"BUT OF THAT DAY AND THAT HOUR KNOWETH NO MAN, NO, NOT THE ANGELS WHICH ARE IN HEAVEN, NEITHER THE SON, BUT THE FATHER..."
Jesus, at that time, did not know the time of the rapture and second coming. He had emptied Himself of His omniscience until He was glorified again after the resurrection. Yet, in that same passage we are told to:
"TAKE HEED, WATCH, AND PRAY...COMMANDED HIS PORTER TO WATCH...WATCH YE THEREFORE... AND WHAT I SAY UNTO YOU, I SAY UNTO ALL, WATCH."
We may not know the "day or the hour", but we are not to have a lack of interest in the times. Most who quote from Mark 13:32-37, disobey the whole truth Jesus was trying to tell us there. We are being instructed to "watch" and be alert to the signals of His coming.
II Peter 3:9-10
"THE LORD IS NOT SLACK CONCERNING HIS PROMISE, AS SOME MEN COUNT SLACKNESS; BUT IS LONGSUFFERING TOWARD US, NOT WILLING THAT ANY SHOULD PERISH BUT THAT ALL SHOULD COME TO REPENTANCE..."
Because it seems as though it has been so long, since the promise of His return, and the event itself...some think God has forgotten, or that maybe we are expecting something that will never occur. But God has already appointed a time, and He is not slack, He is just awaiting the salvation of all He can. When His appointed time arrives, He shall come.
We are in the generation.
"THIS GENERATION SHALL NOT PASS AWAY, TILL ALL BE FULFILLED."
Two things pin down the "generation." It will be the generation during which Israel becomes a nation again. this occurred in 1948. It will also be during the generation when Jerusalem will not be controlled by the Gentiles any longer. Since 1967, all of Jerusalem has been under control of the Jews. This is our generation.
Why can't we know the "day" or the "hour?" The word "day" is from the Greek word "hemera". It is the time space between dawn and dark, or the whole 24 hour day. The word "hour" is from the Greek word "hora", meaning a short time, a short season. It is a part of a day.
What we are not to know is the exact day, and the exact hour of His coming. Can we come within a year? Or can we come within a month, or a week??? And if we thought we knew the "day", say a Monday...it is already Tuesday somewhere on the earth, since it is round. And if we thought we knew the "hour", say midnight...it is already 1 A.M. somewhere, since the earth is round. Knowing this, God told us that we cannot know the "day" or "hour."
The "times" and the "seasons" are supposed to be discerned by the saints. The word "seasons" is from the word "kairos" means "clock time." This means we are to be aware of how much clock time is left. Just as someone who watches the clock at work, if quitting time is 4:00 and it is 3:30, they are well aware that they are in the last half hour. In the schools, one can tell it is one minute till the bell, by the kids on the edge of their seats, books in their arms, and one foot in the aisle ready to jump from their seats. In the same way, we are to know the clock time left, so we may be anxiously waiting when the Lord returns.
The word "chronos" is the word for "times" in the Bible. It refers to a fixed or special period of time. We are to be aware of when we are in that special period of time just before the coming of Jesus. God has indicated events we are to see within that last time period, and we are to be well aware that we are in that period. In the work place, those who work Monday through Friday, and have the weekend off, are well aware that on Friday - the weekend is soon to arrive. They know in which time period they are. We too should know we are in the final time period before the coming of Jesus.
In which time period are we? In the Bible, a day often indicates 1000 years.
II Peter 3:1-13
"...BUT, BELOVED, BE NOT IGNORANT OF THIS ONE THING, THAT ONE DAY IS WITH THE LORD AS 1000 YEARS, AND A 1000 YEARS IS AS ONE DAY."
In the middle of a treatise on prophecy, we find this verse. It means that one truth we cannot afford to be ignorant of is that in the period of time God has given mankind, as one day is part of the week, so one thousand years is a part of the 7000 years that God has given mankind.
Consider what the early church believed about it.
Book of Barnabas 13:3-5
"And God made in six days the works of His hands, and He finished them on the seventh day. Consider, my children, what that signifies, He finished them in six days, the meaning of it is this: that in 6000 years the Lord will bring all things to an end. For with Him, one day is 1000 years, as Himself testifies, saying, "behold, this day shall be as 1000 years," Therefore, children, in 6 days, i.e. 6000 years shall all things be accomplished."
The early church understood this better than the church of recent days. There is to be 7000 years from Adam's creation until the end of the millennium. the millennium, in the Bible, is often called "the day of the Lord." It is like the "sabbath" of the week.
From Adam to Noah 2000 years
From Noah to Christ 2000 years
From Christ to now about 2000 years
total 6000 years
So it is almost time for the millennium.
Today, September 13, 2015, beginning at sundown, is a feast day of the Bible, called THE FEAST OF TRUMPETS. It occurs on THE FIRST DAY OF TISHRI in the Jewish calendar. It does have special significance.
"AND THE LORD SPAKE UNTO MOSES, SAYING, 'SPEAK UNTO THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL, SAYING, IN THE 7TH MONTH, IN THE FIRST DAY OF THE MONTH, SHALL YE HAVE A SABBATH, A MEMORIAL OF BLOWING TRUMPETS, AN HOLY CONVOCATION.'"
The first day of Tishri occurs in September-October, as soon as the new moon was sighted in eastern Israel. Watchers would trumpet the signal from hill to hill. Finally, the message was heard at the Temple. Then the High Priest would blow the shofar (trumpet made of a ram's horn), and announce the day. This was called Rosh Hashanah, the ancient New Year's day for Israel. It was a day of remembrance, a day of judgment.
On this first of Tishri, JOSHUA, THE HIGH PRIEST, OFFERED THE FIRST OFFERING in the land of Israel. After the return from captivity, Joshua, the High Priest, brought the first offering to the new altar. King Cyrus of Persia had allowed the Jews to return and rebuild Jerusalem and the Temple. Forty two thousand settled around Jerusalem. The first thing they did was rebuild the altar of God (Ezra 3:1-6). They began to offer burnt offerings on the first of Tishri. It was Joshua, whose name is the Hebrew form of Jesus, who offered the offering. In type, this shows Jesus reminding the people of the sacrifice that needed to be offered for their sin.
One year, on this same day of the year, EZRA READ THE LAW TO THE RETURNED EXILES.
"AND EZRA, THE PRIEST, BROUGHT THE LAW BEFORE THE CONGREGATION, BOTH MEN AND WOMEN, AND ALL THAT COULD HEAR WITH THE UNDERSTANDING, UPON THE FIRST DAY OF THE SEVENTH MONTH. AND HE READ THEREIN BEFORE THE STREET THAT WAS BEFORE THE WATER GATE FROM THE MORNING UNTIL MIDDAY, BEFORE THE MEN AND THE WOMEN, AND THOSE THAT COULD UNDERSTAND, AND THE EARS OF ALL THE PEOPLE WERE ATTENTIVE UNTO THE BOOK OF THE LAW.
The people once again needed to make a covenant with God. It was on this first day of Tishri that they faced the Word of the Lord, and were obligated to covenant with God.
OTHER EVENTS THAT HAPPENED ON THE FIRST OF TISHRI during the centuries. By oral tradition, it was taught that on the first of Tishri:
Adam and Eve were created-
Adam and Eve were expelled from the garden-
Waters of the flood dried and Noah removed the covering from the Ark-
Sarah, Rachel, and Hannah prayed and had their prayers answered-
Joseph was released after spending 16 years in prison-
There are some POSSIBILITIES that may HAPPEN ON THE FIRST OF TISHRI in the future. These are only surmisings, guesses, educated ones, I hope, but still guesses. Some in our time are using their guesses to control, to dominate, to profit over fear they create. That is terribly wrong to do.
Not this year, for we Christians are still here, and need to be raptured prior to the day, when this first of Tishri might be the day for the DESTRUCTION OF THE U.S.A. The Destruction of "Babylon" at the war that starts the tribulation, Counterfeit Armageddon. This is the day that God announces the beginning of the 2520 day tribulation. The saints will already have been raptured (perhaps on the Day of Pentecost), and then events began to transpire that brought war between the two super powers who would oppose the power of the soon coming Antichrist. This first war of the tribulation will eliminate the tow super powers from the scene. "Babylon" which seems to be the United States, will be destroyed in "one day". This will be the "one day."
This first day of Tishri may also be the day God has chosen for the RETURN OF JESUS, AND THE BEGINNING OF ARMAGEDDON. Exactly 7 years later after the day of the destruction of the United States, after the seven years of 2520 days, the battle of Armageddon will begin. This fits, because in the exact middle of those two wars, the "abomination of desolation" will occur as predicted. It is to occur 1260 days after the beginning of the tribulation, and 1260 days before the battle of Armageddon begins. The day that it is supposed to occur is the 14th of Nisan. This point is midway between the two wars. Daniel 9:27, and Revelation 12:6 says the Antichrist is to profane the Temple, and 1260 days later will be the battle of Armageddon. It is 1260 days from Passover to the feast of the trumpets. The woman (Israel) flees from the Antichrist when the Abomination of desolation occurs, and is hidden in the city of Petra for those 1260 days. Then the Lord returns and rescues these Jews in Petra who have finally repented of rejecting Jesus.
The battle of Armageddon occurs when the saints return with Jesus at the Second Coming. Exactly 2520 days after the destruction of the "Babylon", that began the tribulation, the Lord Jesus returns, so this will be the same day of the year as that event. 2520 days is exactly 7 years of 360 days.
"SANCTIFY YE A FAST, CALL A SOLEMN ASSEMBLY, GATHER THE ELDERS, AND ALL THE INHABITANTS OF THE LAND INTO THE HOUSE OF THE LORD YOUR GOD, AND CRY UNTO THE LORD, ALAS, FOR THE DAY! FOR THE DAY OF THE LORD IS AT HAND, AND AS A DESTRUCTION FROM THE ALMIGHTY IT SHALL COME."
"DECLARE YE IN JUDAH, AND PUBLISH IN JERUSALEM, AND SAY, 'BLOW YE THE TRUMPET IN THE LAND; CRY, GATHER TOGETHER, AND SAY, ASSEMBLE YOURSELVES, AND LET US GO INTO THE DEFENCED CITIES. SET UP THE STANDARD TOWARD ZION, RETIRE, STAY NOT, FOR I WILL BRING EVIL FROM THE NORTH, AND GREAT DESTRUCTION."
The pattern of the day seems to be clear, it is a day of remembrance and judgment. All the events seem to follow that pattern. Joshua's sacrifice brought to remembrance the fact that a Sacrifice had to be offered for sins. Ezra's reading of the law reminded the people of the Word of God that required a covenant to be made. The waters dried enough so that the judgment of the flood came to an end. Sarah, Rachel, Hannah, and Joseph all saw the remembrance of the promise by the answers to their prayers.
In the same way, the war of the beginning of the tribulation, and the war at the end of the tribulation, bring judgment and remembrance of the prophecy of the Word.
The second coming of Jesus is a day of remembrance of His promise to return in power to judge and rule the world.
These may be "guesstimations", but they are based on prophetic study, and application of Scriptural facts. We do not know which year these events may occur in, but we can know it can't be this year for the rapture has not yet occurred.
Do not be fearful and storing up tons of food to survive a tribulation. We are going to be raptured prior to the tribulation, and even if we weren't, the United States perishes in the first war of the tribulation, so all that food would do no good. We are not of 'darkness' or ignorance, we look forward to the rapture, not fear a tribulation we will not be here to see. So... instead of fear... when you 'see these things begin to come to pass, look up... your REDEMPTION draweth nigh."
