BEARING THE CROSS
THE WOUNDS, THE SCARS,
FROM THE CROSS WE BEAR
Jesus rose from the grave, and showed victory over even death. If He can do that, we can be assured of our own resurrection if we abide in Him. Therefore, what threat, what abuse, what persecution, and what intimidation can hurt us??? We will be ultimate victors through Jesus, and need not fear. We can smile for the Lord will deliver us.
The wounds of the cross are precious wounds, and the healing is not just assured, it is the scars and wounds themselves. When Jesus returned from paradise, in a new immortal body, He still kept the wounds, in His hands and side, they were there to show to Thomas, to demonstrate to any doubters. He did not get a new body that was void of any evidence of the ‘cross’ that He endured. We may be surprised that the wounds of the cross down here, will be our glory on our new bodies.
How can we do all this? Just as we have done here now, 'CONSIDER JESUS'. As we look to our Savior, Who did all this for us, and consider what He has asked of us, and what He has promised us for the future, we can 'consider Him' and rejoice. The pain is there, till we step from here to His presence, but we shall rejoice in our 'scars' for Him, as He proudly showed forth His nail prints for us.
Down here on earth, we hear ourselves, and others, complain about the wounds of the cross bearing life. It is common to hear, but those complaints are only made by those who have not yet realized that the wounds and scars are precious.
Romans 5:3 (KJV)
And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
There is a progression in our RESTORATION. There is a growing in the faith, and our wounds from the cross make us to grow, to be restored to what God wants us to be. So we glory and rejoice in our wounds.
2 Corinthians 12:5-10 (KJV)
Of such an one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in mine infirmities. For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but now I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me to be, or that he heareth of me. And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
Glory in the cross you bear, the wounds from the cross, are going to be even on our person, even in heaven. The wounds on the hands of Jesus are going to be still on His person, and our wounds of life are going to be upon us too.
Galatians 6:14 (KJV)
But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
