A PROPHETIC MESSAGE TO THE NATION

I stand at the door and knock

This nation has compromised with sin, allowed good to be called evil, have partaken of the works of darkness.  The church has grown cold,d has been corrupted by the sinful nation.  The pulpits do not identify sin as sin, care for the building, but condone sin rather than preach the gospel.
The Lord Jesus sent a message to the last day church in the book of Revelation:
Revelation 3:
14. And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans  write; These things saith: the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
15. I know thy works that: thou art neither cold nor hot; I would thou wert cold or hot.
16. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of My mouth.
17. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art: wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.
18. I counsel thee: to buy of Me gold tried in the fire, that thou  mayest  be rich; and white raiment, that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
19. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten; be zealous therefore, and repent.
20. Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any man hear My voice,
and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me.
21. To him  that overcometh will I grant to sit with Me in My throne,
even as I also overcame, and am set down with My Father in His throne.
22. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Todays message is that now, in these sinful days, Jesus is currently knocking on the church door. Some of the church in these current day is  ‘desolate’, void, without the presence of God.  Claiming to be saints of God, but unknowingly, not even having the presence of the Lord within their midst that is the condition of the church that this angel watches over. How heartbreaking this must be for our to care for a church that totally breaks His heart.

"Laodicea" means "please the people."  This passage spoke first to the literal church of that day, but prophetically speaks to the last day church of our day.  Some of our churches are apostate, backslidden. This carnal church tries to tickle the ears and please the people, rather than to please God. They believe in democracy on the subject of morality, not in theocracy.  They want to vote on right versus wrong.  They prefer man's ideas, rather than God's Word.  There are many churches today voting on such things as "homosexuality."  God's Word condemns it, and so must we.  There is no commendation for this church.  They have lost the presence of the Lord, for He stands at the door and knocks.

Laodicea was a city of Asia Minor in the Lycos Valley in the province of Phrygia.  It was founded by Antiochus II, in 261-246  B.C., and named for his wife, Laodike.  It was populated with Syrians and with Jews who had been transplanted from Babylonia to Phrygia and Lydia. The city was at the junction of several important routes.  It was known for fine black wool of sheep, and for Phrygian powder for the eyes. The ‘black wool’ speaks in type to the evil of those claiming to be sheep of the Lord. In Rev. 3:18, the powder for the eyes, was thought to be very beneficial to eyes, and eye diseases, but the Lord tells this church, they need to buy ‘eye salve’ from Him. In 60 A.D., this city was almost destroyed by an earthquake. The  citizens were so wealthy that they rejected Roman help, and built it at their own expense.  Rev. 3:17 “Because thou sayest, I am rich...” speaks of this attitude of haughtiness of riches.

There are some churches today, that are haughty in their wealth, preach sermons on how to get wealthy. They bask in, as did the Laodiceans, and miss the fact that in spite of their riches, they do not truly have the Lord.
Laodicea, basically means ‘please the people.

It comes from two Greek words:

“Dike” meaning, ‘decision, principle, to show, and like the word ‘dikaios’ which means ‘righteous, just’, it is used of people who are observant of ‘dike’ authority (whether of God or man).

‘Laos’ means ‘people’, and shows that the authority, the decisions, the principles are determined by the people, not by the Lord.

Therefore, Laodicea, was a church that wanted themselves to determine right from wrong. Being haughty in their pride, they left the seeking of God, or of His Word, to determine right from wrong. They allowed their own spirits be the determiners. Rather, than each person accounting directly to a Lord Who was knocking on the door to speak to them each, they wanted themselves or others to account to. We call that today, the ‘shepherding’ movement. And we hear some defend it, attack all who are not in it, as being evil and stupid. Every cult is dominated with that heresy, and even much of the church of the last days. Please a person, not please the Lord is the cry of many today, and that is as dangerous for our day, as it was for Laodicea then.

Revelation 3:

The reason Jesus is knocking on the doors of some churches of these last day is this "neither hot nor cold,...lukewarm."  condition.  Some do not want to openly deny the Word of God or its definition of righteousness, but in reality they preach ‘political correctness’ rather than Biblical righteousness.
Some churches of this current time are sickening to the Lord.  Jesus is knocking on the door today saying they will be vomited up. They are not seeking the Lord, but only dabbling with Christianity.  Some churches of this nation, are not better than the sinners of the nation, they are void of the presence of the Lord.  Jesus wants to be known that  He is outside this church, knocking (Rev. 3:20).

This condition of not having Jesus in the midst, and not even knowing it, is a lukewarm condition, spiritually.  Their church may be furnished, beautiful, landscaped, with full bank accounts, and wealthy parishioners. The offerings may reflect a generous people, but the spiritual condition makes the Lord sick. The Lord says that He will ‘spue’ them out of His mouth. This means to vomit out due to the sick feeling of this condition.  Our Lord is sickened and nauseated by lukewarmness.

Jesus is outside knocking and informs the nation that some are:
"wretched"
This is the Greek Word- talaiporos.  It means they are suffering oppression as the lowest slave.  These people are slaves to sin.
"miserable"
This is the Greek word-  eleeinos.  It means pitiable.  We can pity those who are in church, but do not know the joy of being in Christ.
"poor"
This word is ptochos, and means one who crouches in the act of begging.  This church is spiritually bankrupt.  They have no inner spiritual life.
"blind"
The word used here is the Greek word- tuphlos.  This refers to being blind in ears, mind, and eyes.  The spiritual darkness of many today can be described as darkness.  They don't see sin as sin, nor do they realize where they are spiritually.
"naked"
The- Greek word- gumnos, refers to  being unclad, defenseless, without armor.  The lukewarm people of this church are defenseless against the devil.  They are unaware of their condition.  They are  too proud of their buildings, their denominations, past histories, etc. that they do not know they are so pitiable.

Revelation 3:
18. I counsel thee:  to buy of Me gold tried in the fire, that thou  mayest  be rich;  and white raiment, that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear;  and anoint thine eyes with eye salve, that thou mayest see.
Jesus gives this day that they need to:
"Buy of Me gold"--
This refers to divine righteousness.
"Buy of Me white raiment"--
This refers to practical righteousness.
"Buy of Me eyesalve"--
This refers to the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit.

Revelation 3:
19. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten; be zealous therefore, and repent.
The word for ‘rebuke’ is ‘elegeho’, which means ‘to confute, to admonish, to tell a fault. This indicates a gentle speaking of a loving Lord to correct.
The word for ‘chasten’ is “paiduo”, meaning “to correct, to instruct, to teach, to chastize,” as with a child, it is gracious, but firm, and can be done with scourgings.
Revelation 3:
20. Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me.
21. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with Me in My throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with My Father in His throne.
22. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

The Lord Jesus tells the lukewarm, the sin condoning church of this day, that He stands at the door and "knocks."  He desires to save these apostate people.  He does indicate some will be overcomers and be saved out of this lethargy.  He counsels them to "hear" His message to them.

Without a repentance, and an inviting of Jesus into the church, the church is doomed. Yet, if some ‘overcome’, there is a great promise to them. They will, if they overcome this lukewarm, politically correct, self-absorbed, prosperity blinded condition, be part of the raptured church.  And thereby be granted the blessing to sit with the Lord on His throne.

The word for ‘throne’ here is ‘thronos’, meaning a ‘seat of authority.”

The throne of which Jesus speaks here, that we will someday sit upon with Him, is the ‘bema’ throne.

Jesus came to this world, became man, and by His life and miracles proved that God existed. He cared, and wanted to save mankind from sin, which had doomed mankind to an eternity of hell fire.  By His perfect life, and sacrificial death, He paid the way for mankind to go to heaven.  We were then asked by the Lord to carry on His works, and while Jesus is interceding still for fallen mankind, we are to continue His works of telling mankind this good news, showing them the way provided by Jesus for them to escape hell fire, and to go to heaven.

Romans 14:10
“for we must all stand (paristemi, abide together) before the judgment seat of Christ.”

II Corinthians 5:10
“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that everyone may receive the things done in the body, according as he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”

There are warnings to the seven churches from our Lord:
EPHESUS= danger of losing our first love
SMYRNA = danger of fear of suffering
PERGAMOS= danger of doctrinal compromise
THYATIRA = danger of moral compromise
SARDIS = danger of spiritual deadness
PHILADELPHIA = danger of not enduring with patience
LAODICEA = danger of lukewarmness

There are all seven kinds of churches yet today, just as there were all seven kinds in that day.  We need to look and see what is the warning we should beware, what is the type of church we are in. We must beware of these dangers.  We can lose out in our relationship with Jesus, if we are not the "overcomers" that the Lord encourages us to be.

The key to avoiding these dangers is to "hear" what the Lord is saying to the churches.  Jesus has, as prophesied, begun to ‘knock’ the door of some last day churches. God wants the saints to be aware and ready.  We are to be His witnesses, and He wants us to know well that which is sure to occur.

The few of this Laodicean type church who do make it, are called ‘overcomers’ so the ones who do not make it, are the ‘overcomee’s.  The devil is trying to overcome us, overwhelm us, make us give up, lose out, backslide to sin again.  In the case of Laodicea, most all have been overcome, and that is the predominant kind of church in these last days.

To the Ephesian kind of church, some are promised to eat of the tree of life, and that means they are raptured/resurrected for those trees grow on both sides of the rivers of life flowing from the throne in heaven.

To the Smyrna kind of church, a ‘crown of life’ is promised to the overcomers, so some of that kind of church must be going to be raptured or resurrected.

To the Pergamos type of church, some are promised hidden manna,
a food of angels in heaven, so they must get there by way of the rapture/resurrection. They are also given a ‘white stone’ with a new name inscribed on it for them, which is another blessing or reward given at the bema throne of Jesus following the rapture\resurrection.

To the Thyatira type of church, some are promised to be someday ruling with Jesus, the ‘Morning Star’, which refers to the Lord in His coming glory, and the blessing of ruling is one given to us who someday sit with Him on His bema throne.

To the Sardis kind of church, the overcomers are promised ‘white raiment, and a name not blotted out of the book of life. Those things are blessings of the ones who sit with Him on the bema throne.

To the Philadelphia church, overcomers are promised an ‘open door’ which is how the rapture/resurrection day is described in Revelation 4:1, and they are also promised to be permanent residents (a pillar in the Temple of My God’), and the name of God, the name of the New Jerusalem, and the new name of Jesus will be tattooed upon them.

To the final church, the ones that Jesus is currently knocking on their door, few will be raptured or resurrected, for they do not have the Lord within. Jesus stands and knocks.  Those who hear His voice, and overcome the wickedness of that kind of church, are promised to sit with Him, ‘sup with Him’, which He promised.

There is rapture/resurrection hope for every church age, every kind of church. It is not what name is over the door of the church we attend, but what is in our own hearts. Have we become overcomers, or have we let the devil overcome us? That is the important question to face as we view the revelation of Jesus about the kinds of churches of the age.

Jesus is now currently standing at the door of some churches, trying to awaken the politically correct to a renewed relationship found only by opening their heart’s doors to Him.
